Liverpool

A series of both colour and black and white fine art photographs from Merseyside, in and around the city of Liverpool. This series highlights the often overlooked beauty of the landscapes of the area, whether it is the stunning simplicity and natural beauty of Crosby Beach at sunset or the man made intricacy of the bridge in the black and white landscape of Dusk at Runcorn Bridge.

Ian was born and grew up in Crosby near Liverpool, and still thinks of the area as home, particularly the west facing beaches with their magnificent sunsets.

Also, Ian studied for a degree and post graduate diploma in architecture at Liverpool Polytechnic so enjoys photographing the city's famous buildings.

Crosby Beach is now home to a beautiful art installation called "Another Place" by sculptor Antony Gormley. 100 life size cast-iron figures are positioned along a 3 Km stretch of the coast. It's a wonderful work of art which changes according to the state of the weather and the tides.

In this gallery you will find quite a few photos of the Antony Gormley statues as well as architectural images of some of the more famous Liverpool landmarks such as the Liver and Cunard buildings, the Anglican and Catholic cathedrals and the waterfront around the area of the Albert Dock.
