A black and white photo of the wooden navigation marker at the Blundellsands end of Crosby Beach on a snowy winters day.
The beach and water are a lot cleaner now but when we were kids we used to swim out to this marker at high tide - it's amazing that none of us ever got sick with all the pollution in the water at that time.
I believe there used to be another of these posts exactly one mile further south along the beach and they were used by ships going in and out of Liverpool docks to calibrate their navigational instruments.
