The town of Ronda is located in the mountains near the south coast of Spain and the town is split in two by the 120 meter deep gorge of the Guadalevin river. Ronda has 3 bridges but the Puente Nuevo or "New Bridge" is the most dramatic although it's not that new as it was started in 1759 and finished in 1793!
The Puente Nuevo was built to replace the previous bridge which collapsed into the gorge in 1741 taking 50 people with it.
